Points of Interest on the Rail Trail |
Stay for more than a day Meander for 30km's along the foreshores of Lake Hume on one of the most spectacular rail trails in Australia. Our Code of Conduct and a separate equestrian trail means that horses rarely cross the cycling / walking trail. No two days, nor two seasons are the same. The diverse birdlife of the Kiewa River woodlands contrasts with crystal clear reflections from Lake Hume. With regular parking & rest areas along the trail, you can explore sections at your leisure or cycle / horse ride from one end to the other, with a warm bed, cold beer & choice of eateries available. There are even places where you can hire a bike or get repairs done. The High Country Rail Trail offers the visitor a diversity of other attractions. There is an endless array of other tracks & quiet road loops that are within 30 minutes drive of the High Country Rail Trail. | | | Lake Hume
Built in the 1920's and opened in 1936. Lake Hume is one of Albury-Wodonga's premier tourist attractions. It is a great location for many recreational pursuits including fishing, swimming, water-skiing and sailing. The recently restored Weir Wall is a major point on Australia's great Murray River. | | | Bonegilla
